Bag 40x30x15 Air France
At Air France, the accessory authorized in the cabin measures 40 x 30 x 15 cm: a bag that fits under the seat, in addition to your cabin baggage. Our 40x30x15 backpacks are designed for this size, with enough room for the computer, papers and flight essentials.
The 40x30x15, the Air France cabin accessory
Air France allows one bag of 55 x 35 x 25 cm and one accessory of 40 x 30 x 15 cm in the cabin, stored under the seat in front of you. Cabin baggage is included in all tickets; the accessory accompanies your trip at no extra cost. The total weight allowed depends on the cabin booked: check it on your ticket.
| Air France Baggage | Maximum dimensions |
|---|---|
| Accessory under the seat | 40 x 30 x 15 cm |
| Cabin baggage in the trunk | 55 x 35 x 25 cm |
The rules are changing: check the conditions of your ticket on the Air France website before leaving. For other companies, consult our guide to cabin baggage size.
Why 15 cm depth makes a difference
The 40x30x15 is the same height and width as Ryanair's free baggage, but 5cm less in depth. A 20 cm thick bag, accepted by low-cost airlines, can therefore be refused as an accessory at Air France. Conversely, a 40x30x15 bag goes everywhere: at Ryanair, Vueling, Transavia, Wizz Air and easyJet, it is accepted as free baggage.
This is the safest format if you travel with several companies during the year.
What to put in a 40x30x15 bag?
At 18 liters maximum, this bag is made for what you want to keep close to you during the flight:
- the computer or tablet, in a padded pocket;
- passport, tickets and wallet;
- medications, a charger and headphones;
- a small transparent toiletry bag for liquids of 100 ml maximum;
- a sweater for the plane, often air-conditioned.
For a short stay without any other baggage, it also allows you to go away for a weekend, packing your tight clothes. Before leaving, reread the list of items prohibited in hand luggage.
Expandable bag 40x30x15: how to use it
Some 40x30x15 bags have a gusset which increases their volume. Keep it closed when boarding: opened, the bag exceeds the authorized 15 cm. The extension is used once you arrive, or when returning to bring back your purchases if you have checked baggage.
What about other companies?
A 40x30x15 bag is accepted as free baggage at Ryanair, Vueling, Transavia, Wizz Air and easyJet. This is also the size of the free accessory at KLM, Lufthansa and Royal Air Maroc. If you mainly travel with Ryanair, Vueling or Transavia and want more space, see our luggage 40x30x20 ; for easyJet, our bags 45x36x20. All formats are included in our range of airplane cabin bags.
Why choose your 40x30x15 bag from Sogaïa?
The exact dimension is in the title of each model, so you know before purchasing whether it fits under the seat. Orders ship within 24 to 72 hours and you have 30 days to change your mind.
